Orkney Wireless Museum

Category: Visitor Attractions

The museum is essentially a local collection, an attempt to capture the evolution and swift passing of an intriguing era. It comprises items of domestic radios from the earliest of times through to modern gimmicky transistor radios from Orkney.

There is a particular additional focus on Orkney in wartime installations in Orkney, not least of which was Netherbutton, as part of the Home Chain radar stations. The museum also has its own amateur radio call sign - GB2OWM -and the station is activated at various times during the year.
