Remainder – Phoenix Cinema @ The Pickaquoy Centre
Oct 6 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

A man who loses his memory when he’s struck by a falling object in central London develops a way to reconstruct his past.

Hit by a falling object in a freak accident, an unnamed man awakes from a coma with £8.5m in compensation, but his memory gone. All that remains is a fragmentary image that the man chooses to reconstruct in increasingly obsessive detail, in the hope of unlocking further memories. As his repetitive re-enactments become more extravagant and risky, the man is led into the mystery of an unsolved crime and the secret of his undoing, as reality begins to fray at the edges…

British psychological thriller, adapted from Tom McCarthy’s cult novel by Omar Fast, best known for his video works that blur the divide between reality and representation. Fast’s intelligent and elegantly shot London-set film is a time-looping, reality-bending, conceptual psycho-thriller (rich with the thematic and stylistic echoes of films like Memento, Upstream Colour and Synedoche New York) mixed with an undercurrent of the temporal, spatial and perceptual fragmentation of Nicolas Roeg’s best films. Stars Tom Sturridge.
