COMA Summer School Concert @ St Magnus Cathedral

CoMA Summer School 2017

Contemporary Music for All supported by the St Magnus International Festival and Orkney Islands Council will be running a very special summer school in Orkney in 2017.

To mark Scotland’s Year of History Heritage and Archaeology and Magnus 900 the organisation that enables musicians of all abilities to create and perform exiting new music is making its first visit to Orkney to run a summer school inspired by the history and music of the islands.  Participants will have the opportunity to work with leading composers and musicians to explore, create and perform new music over the course of a week between 22 – 30 July.

Tickets will be on sale priced £6 each. Limited seating. Advanced ticket purchase strongly recommended from The Reel Music Shop.

All the door money goes to a different local charity each concert.

These concerts have a great reputation for a good evening’s entertainment in a good cause.

A great quest for knowledge took people on to the roads and sea-routes of 12th-century Europe – among them Earl Rognvald of Orkney. The Mayfield Singers and Paisley Abbey organist George McPhee tell the story, with early music and modern, and readings from Dave Grieve and Ragnhild Ljosland.
