The Return of The Girls' Day Out

Get ready for a day of fun, shopping, and community spirit as Kirkwall proudly presents the (highly requested) return of The Girls’ Day Out on 30th September 2023. This exciting event is a celebration of local businesses and a chance for everyone, not just the girls, to come together, enjoy tastings, entertainment, and some delightful fizz while supporting your local high street.

The Girls’ Day Out is all about celebrating the vibrancy and resilience of our local businesses as well as giving us all an excuse to catch up with friends and family to shop-til-you-drop.

Highlights of the Girls Day Out will include:

Tastings Galore: Discover the culinary delights of your local high street with a wide array of food tastings. From sweet treats to savoury bites, there's something to please every palate.

First Glimpses: Some of our businesses will be launching new stock arrivals so you can be first to shop the autumn/winter selection.

Live Entertainment: visit the Kirkwall BID tent between 2pm and 5pm to have a boogie with Garriock's Disco Orkney.

Fun and Games: We’ll have a fabulous photo booth for you to create lasting memories with friends and family, as well as a fun competition in the BID tent throughout the day. There might be some sneaky prizes to be won too!

Fizz and Refreshments: Raise a toast to our local businesses with a glass of bubbly and refreshing themed beverages in our bars and restaurants. It's the perfect way to add some sparkle to your day.

Pretty in Pink: Whilst you explore all that’s on offer in Kirkwall, you’ll be surrounded by perfectly pink window displays across the town.

The Girls’ Day Out is not just an event; it's a celebration! Fun, food, fizz, friends and family. Everyone is welcome at the Girls’ Day Out. By shopping local, you're not only supporting your community but also helping to sustain the unique character of our high street. "Our local businesses are essential to our community, and they need local support to thrive,” said Laura Bruce, Kirkwall BID Manager. "We’ve received many requests to bring back the Girls’ Day Out, from the public and our member businesses and we’re delighted to be doing it this year. The Girls’ Day Out is a fantastic opportunity to come together, have some fun, and shop til you drop."

Mark your calendar and invite your friends and family to join us for this unforgettable day of fun and camaraderie. Be a part of the movement to strengthen our local economy and keep our high street thriving!
