Kirkwall BID & Beyond Project Comes to a Close

25 MARCH 2021

KIRKWALL BID & BEYOND PROJECT COMES TO A CLOSE

Throughout this pandemic, Kirkwall BID & Beyond have been supporting businesses in Kirkwall and beyond, sharing information and advertisements, as well as liaising with OIC and other task forces reviewing the impacts to Orkney’s economy. The project was extended thanks to attracting additional funding from Scotland's Towns Partnerships and Improvement Districts Scotland, having originally been scheduled to finish in September 2020.

Laura Bruce, BID Consultant and Project Manager for the Beyond project said she was delighted that Kirkwall BID had been able to support 114 businesses outside the BID boundary especially over the winter months. "We are really pleased we were awarded additional funding last year as we were able to include businesses across Orkney in our March of the Penguins event and spread the fun beyond Kirkwall. We hope that sharing social media posts on behalf of these members, as well as sharing funding and business information with them has been beneficial during this difficult time."

"We must continue to support businesses across Orkney and encourage our families and friends to love local, to support our local economy which affects us all".
