Kirkwall BID & Beyond Project Comes to an End

Kirkwall BID & Beyond Project Comes to an End.

A Statement from Kirkwall BID, Wednesday 30th September 2020.

Throughout this pandemic, Kirkwall BID & Beyond have been supporting businesses in Kirkwall and beyond, sharing information and advertisements, as well as liaising with OIC and other task forces reviewing the impacts to Orkney’s economy.

The ‘Beyond’ members, over 90 businesses across Orkney, who signed up for the scheme were given access to guides, poster templates, information and support usually reserved for the Kirkwall BID Area.

Laura Bruce, BID Consultant created and ran the project since receiving funding from Scotland’s Improvement Districts in May 2020. Laura shared “it’s been great working with businesses across Orkney, and being able to share our work further. We hope the businesses who signed up have found it beneficial, even just having their posts shared with our following on social media of over 5000 people.”

The funding for the BID & Beyond project has now come to an end, and Kirkwall BID are saying farewell to their temporary name change, but Laura hopes this may just be a pause and not an end. “We’ve been invited to apply for a second round of funding, and I am hopeful that we may see a return of BID & Beyond in some capacity in the near future.”

Along-side The Orcadian, Kirkwall BID have been sharing the ‘Love Local’ message, urging the public to ‘think local first’. The Kirkwall BID team would like to thank everyone who has supported local businesses and hopes that this support will continue over the winter months.
