Old Library Coworking

Categories: Services, Public services

The Old Library opened in 2024 and is now a coworking and venue hire space.

Housed in Kirkwall’s former public library (once the most northerly Carnegie Library in Europe!)

The Old Library opened in 2024 and is now a coworking and venue hire space.

It is open Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 18:00, for hotdesking and meeting room bookings, as well as evenings and weekends for private hire.

The Old Library is open to a wide mix of users: working tourists, freelancers, remote workers, startups, small teams, and larger organisations looking for occasional meeting or event space. The space is designed to be adaptable and welcoming – whether you need a regular base or just somewhere to connect with others from time to time.

More than just a place to work, The Old Library is about building community. It’s a space that encourages collaboration, new ideas, and mutual support – helping to develop and grow both our local businesses and the people visiting Orkney.
