Orkney International Science Festival's Molecule Hunt 2025

Kirkwall Molecule Hunt Competition 4-10th September 2025 In Association with Orkney International Science Festive, Brought to you by Science@Cwaben

This will be the fiftheenth year of the Molecule Hunt in Kirkwall.

This year OISD have selected 10 businesses in Kirkwall's town centre to host a molecule. These are listed below and their locations are shown on the map. Each busienss has been assigned a molecule which is associated with the nature of the business. An images of each of these molecules, along with a description of how it is used, is shown on the Hunt Form.

Your challenge is to visit each business and identify which molecule is on display. You then complete the hunt form by entering the name of the appropriate business beside each molecule name and either return to the Visit Scotlands iCentre or email it to [email protected] by noon on Wednesday 10th September.

Don’t forget to add your own contact details and any comments you wish to make about the competition.

All entries received before noon on Wednesday 10th September will be checked for accuracy and correct entries will be entered into a draw to select the winner. The winner will receive a Molymod® molecule building kit http://www.molymod.com/sets.html, kindly donated by Philip Spiring of Molymod.
