A Very Kirkwall Christmas – 27–29 November 2026
To welcome the festive season, Kirkwall BID will host A Very Kirkwall Christmas, a three‑day celebration designed to bring warmth, joy, and community spirit to the town centre.
The weekend will feature:
- An ice rink
- Family activities
- Opportunities for businesses to participate through extended hours, themed offers, and street‑front engagement
Shaped by feedback from BID members, families, and community groups, the event reflects local priorities and strengthens community pride. Youth groups, volunteers, performers, and businesses will help deliver the weekend, ensuring it remains a cherished part of Kirkwall’s festive calendar.

We will encourage shoppers from Shetland and Caithness to make Kirkwall a Christmas Shopping destination. Working with NorthLink Ferries, they will offer Festive Shopping Weekend travel discounts. The following codes will cover travel from 25th November - 3 December

- For Islanders (travelling from Lerwick to Kirkwall return) use code: F26.SPL1.BID for a 30% discount on islander passenger, vehicle and sleeping pod fares, plus a 12.5% discount on the islander cabin rates.
- For visitors (travelling from Aberdeen to Kirkwall return or Scrabster to Stromness return) use code F26.V30.BID for a 30% discount on standard passenger, vehicle, sleeping pod fares and cabin rates.
