A Very Kirkwall Christmas – 27–29 November 2026
To welcome the festive season, Kirkwall BID will host A Very Kirkwall Christmas, a three‑day celebration designed to bring warmth, joy, and community spirit to the town centre.
The weekend will feature:
- An ice rink at Shearers Car Park on Victoria Street
- Family activities
- Opportunities for businesses to participate through extended hours, themed offers, and street‑front engagement
- Walk-in snow globe – for incredible photo opportunities at Garden Square
Shaped by feedback from BID members, families, and community groups, the event reflects local priorities and strengthens community pride. Youth groups, volunteers, performers, and businesses will help deliver the weekend, ensuring it remains a cherished part of Kirkwall’s festive calendar.
Kirkwall BID warmly thanks the organisations whose support makes the Very Kirkwall Christmas possible:
- National Lottery Awards for All
- Loganair
- NorthLink Ferries
- WHB Sutherlands
- Orkney Builders
- Highlands and Islands Renewables

Their contributions help ensure that Kirkwall’s autumn and festive programme remains inclusive, community‑driven, and accessible to all.
