Kirkwall businesses turn yellow in support for RNLI.

Local businesses decorated their shop windows in a yellow theme as well as St Magnus Cathedral being lit up yellow in support of the RNLI.

Kirkwall Lifeboat Open Day takes place on Saturday at the station, between 11am-3pm, when the crew and guild will hold their annual Mayday fundraising events.

The lifeboat will be open to the public, and there will be the opportunity to meet the crew and ask questions about the RNLI and the station.

It is also planned that the Coastguard and Fire Service will be attending, subject to operational requirements, with Coastguard displays taking place at 12 noon and 2pm.

The RNLI shop at the station has been open all week, 11am-3pm, and will be on Saturday, selling lifeboat souvenirs, raffles and games, hot drinks and homebakes.

Hot food will also be on offer on Saturday from the Snak Pot, with food donated from Craigie’s Butcher on sale. Orkney Inflatables will have penalty shoot out inflatable, weather permitting, and Lianne Halleran will be there doing face painting with an RNLI theme.
